What you may see on your tour ...
The Main Offices of DETS are located in
rooms 2104 and 2105 Martin Hall. These offices house the administrative functions of DETS.
In 2105 Martin Hall you’ll find the DETS distribution offices where all materials
moving to and from the Distance students are handled. There are Faculty mailboxes,
secure storage for sensitive materials and the offices are generally open late in
the evening to accommodate Faculty that teach evening courses. This room is also
the entrance to two of the DETS control rooms where technical directors control
all of the classroom equipment remotely for the faculty.
Conveniently located on either side of this office are two studio classrooms where the educational material originates.These two classrooms were originally configured for television when Martin Hall was renovated in the mid 1980’s and were recently given a technology refresh to bring the latest display technology into the classroom. Each room seats up to 60 students and is equipped with Projectors and plasma displays.
This next building is the ITV building (named after the department’s original name).
It contains two additional studio classrooms and just as importantly houses the
DETS Engineering Team. There is a control center here from which all of the electronic signals moving in and out of
DETS can be monitored and controlled. The Engineering team is responsible for all technical
aspects of DETS functions. All audio/video and IT maintenance is handled in-house by our
Engineering Staff.
